Ben presents the captain of the Russian tallship Pallada with a copy of his book, From Victoria to Vladivostok
I had the honour of attending a formal reception aboard the Russian tallship Pallada in Victoria harbour on August 6, presenting the captain and crew with a copy of my book, From Victoria to Vladivostok. I attended the ceremony as vice-president of the Victoria-Khabarovsk Association, the sister-city organization between Victoria and the Russian Far East (a region I have visited twice previously for historical research). I concluded my remarks to assembled officers, sailors and local dignitaries by calling for “international friendship” between Canada and Russia” and “ongoing exchange in the fields of science, economics and culture.”
